Poll: Please tell us what you think

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I’ve noticed that during Tyson’s edits, all the monster shouts that were originally written in Latin characters have now been changed to standard issue howls and groans.

This means the infamous “WAOOOOOOOON!” is now something like “Awoooo!” and all the lines like “GYOGYOOOO!” have been rewritten entirely.

Would you prefer the way Tyson has it now? Or would you like to see it reverted to how it was before? Or if you don’t support complete reversion … do you at least want to see the return of WAOOOOOOOON?

Let us know.

Scenario 15 (Light)

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Here’s a separate post about scenario 15:

1) For Scenario 15(26) - In the prologue, the losing condition is: “Erwin perished.” This should be ‘perishes’ like found in all the other scenarios so far.

2) What I’m going to play: Scenario 15(28) - The prologue has this line: “Having failed to get to Velzeria by failing to steal a ship, the companions decided to follow the path along the river bank.” It’s a little wordy here I think.. Maybe say something like “Due to the failure of stealing a ship to get to Velzeria, the companions decided to etc”

Scenario 14(25) Light

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

1) When I kill one of the succubi, she says; “This can’t happen.”

-> I’m not too sure what she meant to say, but I thought it was along the lines of “This can’t be happening”.

2) The other succubus says “Such a weakling” as a death quote.

-> Is she referring to herself? She must be crazy to call me a weakling for defeating her.. ^_^;;

3) Found one of those mismatched portrait and text bug. Here’s a screenie:

Scenario 46 (Imperial 17)

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

1. During the cutscene at the beginning, Laird and Jessica tussle. Laird wins, barely, and one of his commanders says: “Jessica! // Withdraw! / Withdraw at once!” May I suggest: “Sir! She’s retreating! / Shall I pursue?” After which Jessica vanishes and Laird says something to the effect of “that crafty witch.”

2. Also, Laird’s background box is green, Jessica’s red, bur his commanders (two of them) boxes are blue. All transluscent, but I thought it odd.

3. Vargas died on me and said: “You drew the sword!” Huh?

4. Rohga calls after Sonya, and she replies to him: “Böser is so much nicer that my brother.” Maybe change the end to: “than you humans!”

That’s it! :D

Liana class change reset

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

When I got Liana’s Priest class to 10, the class change screen that came up was for Cleric/Paladin. I’m confused, because that’s the first change she gets. Is this an original game code bug or something?

Scenario 14 Light

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I’m in the lab now and am currently testing Scenario 14 (not actually part of my actual playthrough since my path is from Scenario 25 onwards). What I found so far:

1) The secret tile message was:

There is an old wooden box here.

Obtained the Gleipnir. (To this you answer Yes or No).

-> Since it’s kinda something you’re gonna say yes or no to, maybe we can say instead, “Will you take the Gleipnir?” But I guess it’s up to you. Then when you answer yes, you get this line:

Oh…! How can I die here?

That is funny…… I’m not sure what the intention of this line is though….

2) In turn 1 enemy phase this conversation between Imelda and her troops takes place.

Imelda: It can’t be helped…

Imelda: So, loading all this baggage is going to take a while?

Soldier: We’re working on it.

Soldier: There’s a still a good deal to move aboard.

Imelda: If they board, I’ll have to thank that scruffy peasant boy for our last encounter!

Commander: Understood. <-what the??

-> Why did the commander say that? ~_^;;;

3) At beginning of Turn 2, Erwin and gang are talking. There’s a line by Aaron:

Aaron: Even with a boat like that, the Direth Straits will be a struggle to cross this time of year.

-> missing ‘the’ between ‘of’ and ‘year’.

4) I’m sending you a save state whereby Laird and reinforcements arrive when you reach a certain portion of the map. Erm… I’ll just say that it’s pretty bizarre - people are saying lines the next person should be saying. And to end it off, Laird says the beta testing warning message that you get at the beginning of every scenario and then *screams* Liana’s previous line: “No! Let go of me!” Please look at it for yourself lol….. (AND I did try to check if it was the problem of ZSNES by using bsnes. Same case ^_^;;;;)

EDIT:

5) When you attack the high lord commander/his units the first time (the one with elves and grenadiers), he says: “Gah…! I’m being called away…”. What is the “called away” supposed to mean? lol….

Data Corrupt?

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Just a quick question… sorry, I know it’s been awhile D… lol… my computer crashed on me when my electricity short circuited. Anyhow, after going back and forth through different emulators trying to find one that will work again with my backup-ed sram file (believe me, that took a while, even the emulator I was using before didn’t work…). Anyhow, I ended up getting it to work, when I saw this…

Corrupt Data

Just a quick suggestion, I recommend corrupt data over data corrupt any day of the week, but it’s just a personal suggestion… :)

Please send us your Epilogue saves!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

For all beta testers, you should have received this as an email earlier today.

We have detected some errors in the text centering for the game’s Epilogue titles. Not the staff list. Those have now been fixed in our current working files.

What we need are the lines like:

Erwin
King of El Sallia

or

Hein
Grand Wizard of El Sallia

We only need the screen with the title. Not all the rest of the text.

If you can mail a ZIP file with these screens to langrisser at cinnamonpirate dot com or to my Gmail account (dsobodash with you-know-what after it), that would be perfect. We want to make sure we don’t have any that sneak by off center.

Sorry, change of orders on this one. Please send us your final game SAVE. Save the turn before beating the game and send that in. It will help even more.

If every tester sends us his or her ending screens, we should be safe.

Mostly Imperial 16

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

1. When Hein mentions Liana and Lána being twins, Egbert says:

Unfortunately, they are the
Maidens of Light and Darkness.
Because of that ...
Böser abducted Lána
while she was very young.

Why is it unfortunate that they are the Maidens of Light and Darkness? The break makes no sense. And Böser abducted Lána while she was young? Consider:

Indeed. They are the
Maidens of Light and Darkness.
Böser abducted Lána
when she was very young
for that same reason.

2. Vargas boasts about the Empire’s ability to kill Böser:

Against the empire
he's nothing but dead.
Familiar story.

Does “familiar story” sound right to you? It doesn’t to me. Consider: “Like so many others.” *shrug*

3. The Descendants make an appearance, and Böser forgets his grammar: “You Descendants of Light / showed up now?” Showed -> show.

4. Around the same time, Egbert mulls:

The Descendants of Light
still haven't mobilised.
She thinks she can
simply wait things out ...
That's just fine.

But they have mobilised, they’re right there, although arguably a bit late. This mysterious “she” person is most likely Jessica and should be referenced by name. Perhaps like so:

The Descendants of Light
have, as usual,
arrived too late.
Jessica must think she can
simply wait things out ...
That's fine with me.

5. The Descendants are a real hot topic of conversation. Böser has this to say to his troops about the situation: “Stay your ground until the / Descendants appear, and they / shall inadvertently aid us.” Again, the Ds of L have already appeared. I suggest changing “appear” for “close in.”

6. Just before the game asks me (in a portrait-less message window) if I should chase Böser, Erwin clearly says: “Erwin pauses to / consider his situation …” I don’t know if the portrait and name can be removed, or if the text should be changed to something like: “Let me think / about this …”

That’s it for Scen45.

7. I went back to Scen44 to see the text for Egbert capturing Liana, and Jessica says: “Stop it, Egbert!” Once more, maybe it’s just me, I don’t like the “it.” I think it sounds and reads better without it.

8. I also went back to Scen41, and Leon has a line that says, somewhere, “I can’t fall apart.” It happened when some enemy unit attacked one of his units, so I think it’s overly melodramatic. His unit didn’t even die.

Another bugfix

That should be everything. All systems that show numbers have been updated, now.
