Bug Reports

We are still accepting bug reports at this time.

Our current plans are to develop a new patching format. We expect this to take 1 - 3 months to complete. Once finished, we will be releasing a new patch in this format. This will be the final release, at which time we will no longer accept any bug reports.

If you see a bug and want it fixed, you absolutely must report it as soon as possible. We do not intend to continue to support Der Langrisser for the rest of our lives. We have over four hundred downloads of our patch thus far, so there is absolutely no reason any bug should remain uncovered within the next few months.

We are accepting reports on the following issues at this time:

• Programming errors
• Wrong portrait errors, eg dialogue shows Aaron but portrait shows Cherie. We may or may not fix these at our discretion. They are all bugs from the Japanese game, and not from our translation.
• Script errors, such as a character speaking in the wrong person, eg “You have failed.” when the text should clearly state “I have failed.” — the context should make it clear when this is an error.
• Script errors, such as a window with only a single word, formatting errors, typos, etc

We are not accepting reports on these issues:

• Graphical glitches on character sprites, eg Bernhardt turning into Egbert or glitches after being killed by a Vampire Lord — these are bugs in the Japanese game that is due to WRAM corruption. We do not have the resources to reprogram half of the game engine to fix this. The bug is not the fault of our translation patch.
• Problems in the load screen secret menu (L, R, L, R, Select, A). There are multiple bugs here, and all of them are from the Japanese game. Notably, some sound effects do not play, and many options in the Battle Test menu will cause the game to show garbled backgrounds, play incorrect sounds, and possibly even crash the game. There is a reason this feature was not enabled in the Japanese release. We chose to release it as we knew many people would enjoy seeing it anyway. Again, none of these were caused by our translation.
• Sound cutoff at the end of the introduction loop by ~3 seconds. This is due to the extended length of dialogue text used by the English translation. There is little we can do here.
• Dark Princess - Dark Princess overflows the 8×8 Name - Class line by two pixels. It is still perfectly readable, and does not cause any glitches. The text is not even clipped. Our only other option is to shorten this line, but there is no reason to. It fits perfectly fine.
• Personal opinions on how something should be translated. The script has been meticulously edited for several years. We do not care if you are upset with our use of profanity, localizations, colloquialisms, etc
• Odd script messages when a character is killed. This is usually due to killing a character on the first attack, and is not a bug.

If you would like to submit a bug report, you may either submit it here, or on the Clouds of El Sallia forum. We will not accept bugs from anywhere else.

When submitting a bug, you must include all relevant information. We need the exact text spoken, a detailed reason of what is wrong and why you believe it is wrong, and how to reach this bug. If it is a programming bug, you will need to post a save RAM (.srm) file, and not a save state (.zsN, .s9N, etc). You can make the needed save RAM by choosing the “Save” option from the game menu immediately before the bug. Exit the emulator to be sure your save RAM was updated before mailing it to us.

We thank you in advance for any bug submissions, and apologize for any bugs you encounter while playing. It is inevitable that some issues will have slipped past us during beta testing.

1. nwoo Says:

Here’s another bug:

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b351/trunks61/wrongending.gif

I beat it doing imperial path (scenario 78) where Sonya had previously died. You then finish off Boser and kill Chaos. Afterwards, I believe it gives him a wrong ending. It shows his independent ending, I’m quite sure. In the picture it shows that Sonya is still alive and that he convinced her to join you (like in independent), when she should be dead. Hope that’s a good catch.

Ough, I’ve beaten it 4 times in the past 2 days of vacation. I need a break. I reported this in the forum, too.

2. Alejandro Moreno Says:

Are you sure it’s scenario 78? I was under the impression that Sonya was dead in scenarios 55 and 77, and very much alive in scenarios 50 and 78.

3. nwoo Says:

Well, do a level skip to 78. Before the battle begins Boser talks about how Sonya is dead and is probably rotting in hell with her father. Does it say the same thing for you?

4. nwoo Says:

Not only that, if you level skip ( i know it’s not reccomended for bug testing), you still have her in your party. So either Boser’s text is wrong or his ending is wrong. One of the two.

5. Derrick Says:

That scenario actually has the possibility to change when she is dead or alive. It’s not two separate scenarios.

6. Markliujy Says:

As I posted on the forums:

Independent 18 (67) When Sonya attacks Leon:
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9567/dle00000pn4.png
http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/586/dle00001yj2.png
http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/244/dle00002eu7.png

Leon now has a long lost brother :p
It’d make more sense the other way around, I’d think.

7. zz Says:

been a while since i played the japanese version.. so i can’t remember correctly… in the battle screens… are the attacker and defender unit names meant to be on different levels? the names on the right pane seem to be 1 line lower than the other side.

—–
finally get to play this in english. thanks. even though i prefer the md version.. at least the gfx anyway. (1st impression and all)

8. Jereplofje Says:

Maybe I missed something… But were there any changes made in gameplay? I seemed to recall that in scenario 6 (where you first encounter Sonya), Laird and Leon didn’t have 2 Dragoons each. I also encountered one or two other small things, but maybe that’s just me.

9. Jesse Says:

Some minor things I noticed:

in Independent LV 20 (69)
Objectives:
Failure Condition: 20 turns pass with no victory
I took quite long to kill Lester and in the end I had
25 Turns (I tested a 26th turn, but it ended after
the 25th turn with a game over, so I am sure that
it should be 25 turns for the Failure condition).

In Independent LV 17 (66) Bernhardt ist weaker than a fighter (ATK 17 DF 1? - forgot the exact number) but in
the Same CHAOS Level (61) he has his “normal” stats ATK 44 DF 49, is this meant to be this way?

Instruction Manual

Page 10
Leon’s Class Chart: Dragon Lotd —- should be Dragon Lord

btw thanks for the translation patch, the game is
even better in english

10. Derrick Says:

zz: If you want them on the same line, then the class names can only be 8 letters long. If you want ENGLISH, then it must be on two lines.

Jereplofje: Less drugs while playing Der Langrisser. No such things have ever been toyed with.

Jesse: None of the above are our fault. That’s the Japanese programmers. May fix the instruction manual.

11. byuu Says:

Derrick wrote:

“zz: If you want them on the same line, then the class names can only be 8 letters long. If you want ENGLISH, then it must be on two lines.”

Yeah, we need to get a good screenshot showing a case where both classes have really long names, and then another with alamone’s work, so that it’s obvious why I chose to put the strings on two separate lines.

It actually took me a surprisingly long amount of time to come up with that rather obvious trick to fix long class names on that screen for some reason …

Derrick wrote:

“Jesse: None of the above are our fault. That’s the Japanese programmers. May fix the instruction manual.”

Should we verify and/or change the losing conditions to say 25 turns, or no? It could be temperamental, too. Eg it’s 20 turns in some cases, 25 in others. Who knows.

12. ChrisAsmadi Says:

From what I’ve played, the patch is great. Good Job, guys.

The only problem I’ve seen is the questionaire bug, where, if one of your answers grants an item, then you restart, the item is not reset and is kept.

That might be a problem in the japanese game, I dunno.

(That’s how my Fighter Elwin has a Devil Axe and Speed Boots, along with Attack1/Protect1/Quick on Scenario 1. :D)

13. nwoo Says:

Yes Chris, that’s a really obvious bug that’s been in since the Japanese one. It’s not forced upon you. It’s up to the player if he wants to cheat and make the game stupidly easy.

14. inin Says:

In Scenario 14 (Light side) during the prelude scene when Egbert about to kidnap Liana…

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l314/intsikb/image2.jpg

The graphical mess persists till you’ve finished the scenario. =(

15. Garro Sakuragi Says:

That’s a known bug on the Japanese game… So, I think it can’t be solved…

16. byuu Says:

I have ran through Scenario 14 (Light) multiple times and was not able to trigger this bug.

It may be due to an issue with your ROM, though I’m not sure how as I verify the CRC32 of the patched file … it could also be a problem with your emulator.

17. Flunky Says:

I wasn’t sure where to post this, but I’m having a problem with the powerpc and intel OS X patchers. I’ve tried using the powerpc patcher on a G4 laptop and the intel patcher on a macbook pro, and each time I get the error “dl_j.smc not found”. I’m using the 1.1 download from Clouds of El Sallia renamed to dl_j.smc, the file is also in the same folder as the patch. Is there something I’m doing wrong here?

18. epryn Says:

Just a little error I bumped into with Vargas in scenario 4

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa57/epryn/dlsc401.jpg

19. Alejandro Moreno Says:

about epryn’s post, there’s a “the the” in the screen, in case you can’t notice it at first glance.

20. nwoo Says:

Byuu, you only get that bug if you fast forward (aka cheating) on zsnes. At least, from my knowledge. ;)

21. Garro Sakuragi Says:

No, it has happened to me even without the fast forward… It may only happen on zsnes, but I don’t know for sure…

22. ugetab Says:

I don’t know the exact scenario number for this, other than #20, light side, after choosing to detour away from Velzeria after scenario 18.

It’s part of the battle intro, and the exact line reads “Leon: He may be strong with with that sword, but our Kaiser forged this country with his own hands!”.

The “with with” being the issue.

23. inin Says:

Scenario 17 (Imperial path)

A minor typo
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l314/intsikb/image.jpg

Colonel Laid >> Colonel Laird

24. Frances Says:

Regarding the graphic glitch in Scenario 14, yup I got that too on ZSNES. Even without the fast forward. Maybe it’s the emulator problem.

I’ve decided to take a break from this game lol.. So yup, I don’t think you’ll hear any bug reports from me anytime soon =)

Regarding the post I made on the Clouds of El Sallia forum about having a Lana ending instead of Aaron’s, is it a bug of the game or was it meant to happen? Just wondering since no one replied to that post..

25. inin Says:

Tnx for the reply guys. Luckily, I managed to fix this problem by restarting the scenario weeee. And yeah im using zsnes but i don’t think it doesn’t have anything to do w/ the fast forwarding or the emulator itself.

Here’s a minor typo in Scenario 17 (Imperial path)
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l314/intsikb/image.jpg

26. Monoman Says:

Not really a bug but i’ll toss it out there. In game the Mage class spell that reduces MDF is called ” decrease ” while it is called ” decline ” in the pdf

27. Grey Says:

A typo in Imperial 18/Scenario 47, when Vargas attacks the boss. He says, “tained”, but it probably should be “tainted”.

Screenshot: http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/2215/vargastypobu3.jpg

28. kw Says:

need some clarification… aren’t vargas and what’s his name.. father and son? (or was that just the md version?)

is it not “ice dragon” rather than “water dragon”? (again.. could be dodgy memory of md version + i only read kanji)

29. Derrick Says:

Yes, it is Ice Dragon, but at some point we just wrote Water Dragon, and everyone thought it sounded better, so we just said screw it and kept it as Water. At least it’s the same element, just in a different state. We’re not changing that. If we did that, every single division would be “Army,” since they all are in the Japanese.

Also, who are you talking about? Vargas and Rohga? Rohga isn’t even in the MD game. I know this, because I beat it — every scenario — two weeks ago. Vargas’s father is long dead. He hates the guy. His only known -living- kin are his wife and daughter.

30. kw Says:

no, vargas… and Zilmu (finally found the name)…. seem to remember there was a father and son team (as opposed to just boss/underling) on the empire side in md version

… guess it’s a case of me misintrepreting kanji / mixing up versions

31. Derrick Says:

kw: Don’t remember anything at all about that even in the MD game.

32. Jereplofje Says:

This has probably been said before, but just to make sure; not being able to use elementals is a glitch from the original version, right?

Also, when you first meet Jessica (as well as in other points in the game) it is pointed out that Jessica has lived for several hundred years, but Sherry says that Jessica is 70 years old in the Independent scenario where you fight Sherry and Lester (the second to last scenario I believe). Is that a bug in the Japanese version too?

My compliments on the translation by the way, most of the fan-translated games don’t really have distinct ways of speaking with characters. It’s cool to see Lester having a totally different way of talking than Leon for instance.

33. Derrick Says:

Jereplofje: Can you give me a line for the 70-years citation? I need the exact text. It should be far more than that. As for elementals, yes, it’s a Japanese thing. I have a question. Does the class change chart say you should have elementals but you just never get them? Or are they not even there? If they are not even shown on any class change chart, then this is not a bug, it is a L2->DL difference.

34. Jereplofje Says:

The elementals get shown on the class change cart with either Esto or Osto (perhaps both, but I’m not sure of that).

I’ll look into the 70 years citation, I only recall that it was in the conversation where she said she thought that Lester was 30 years old and Egbert only a few years older. I’ll look into it right away.

35. Jereplofje Says:

Scenario 69 (Scenario 20):
Perhaps you were right about the ‘less drugs while playing Langrisser’ thing. She wasn’t talking about ’seventy’ but ‘twenty’. I did find something else there.

Lester tells how he met Jessica, first of all, Lester says he was 9 when Jessica took him in. Shortly thereafter Jessica used rebirth, and Sherry says “So Jessica is around 20 years old” and she concludes that Lester has to be around 30.
How does she know it happened 20 years ago? Is that a plot hole or was that around the translation? Or did I just miss something somewhere else in the game?
(let me know if you want the exact quotes for this)

And here’s a typo from scenario 66 (scenario 17), “It’s won’t”:
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL178/4566118/15499129/260465226.jpg

As soon as I’ve looked into the thing with the elementals, I’ll let you know. I’m fairly sure it appeared in the level up charts of either Esto or Osto though.

36. XxDayofFatexX Says:

I finished the Chaos/Dark side of the game and desided to work on doing the Light side.

I entered the 2? (Secret Level 2 for Light Side only) and somehow Rohga reentered my party for the fight. He leaves your group in the Light side yet he is in this battle.

He even has 2 speeches

Rohga: “What?”
Rohga: “I guess we should attack everyone … “

37. XxDayofFatexX Says:

Independant Path

Choice Fight: Staying Independant or going Chaos/Dark

Lana’s character is called Dark Priestess for name and class. Also during the speech at the end of the fight the sprite of Lana teleports to a different spot on the map then back to her position near Liana and Boser.

38. XxDayofFatexX Says:

Hein, if allowed to go down the Priest path gains +3 troops not +1 troops when he goes from Priest to High Priest leveling

39. XxDayofFatexX Says:

Battle 11: Light Path

Leon says: “I was playing with Vargas’s when I told her what happened to her husband …”
Laird says: “Really …”

Spelling Error

40. Jereplofje Says:

Hey Derrick, about your question:
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL178/4566118/15499129/260507723.jpg

Here you can see the class change graph with elementals.
Not only that, but Sonya also starts with a few elementals when she first joins you. So I guess it’s a bug, not a difference with L2.

41. Baajikiil Says:

Minor correction:

Description of Assault Suit says “A +10, D +10″
Should read “AT +10, DF +10″

42. Derrick Says:

Jereplofje: Based on the full charts, only a few classes can get Elementals.

Est: Kraken->Jormungand or Succubus->Stone Golem
Ost: Dullahan->Living Armour or Minotaur/Living Armour->Stone Golem

Maybe if you send byuu some saves, he can try to figure out why the Elemental flag is not being set. And is it actually missing for all of them? The Chinese site suggests it is.

Edit: Oh, I see now. Elementals do not even exist in the game as a hireable unit. Wonderful :) That’s not getting fixed. Maybe we can get the class change screen hacked to just not show them at all.

Edit 2: Ah ha, there is a second type of Demon unit. Everyone knows Archdemon already (AT30/DF20), but the game also has Demon (AT23/DF18), the weaker form, in its hireable class list. Based on the screen at http://langrisser.mobilesuit.ms/class.htm, Demons are never hireable. Ever. Does anyone know otherwise? The solution would be to swap demons and Elementals in the hire list, then somehow set the hire flag for Elementals. Of course, all that is easier said than done, and I seriously doubt you will ever get byuu to tackle that. But you are welcome to try asking him.

43. byuu Says:

I don’t intend to fix it, but I might take a look at if even a single person would read the directions and post a save RAM to a programming problem they report.

44. ndr Says:

Here’s an error in the text, although i can’t remember the exact place. You can easily search for uncommon words in the script, I assume.

In one of the characters’ epilogues, the word “populous” should be “populace”. I’m pretty sure it’s Imelda’s, but I could be wrong — in any case, I’m sure it should be changed.

45. Jereplofje Says:

I also saw the elementals for the Stone Golem, and no, they aren’t usable either.

And about the demons, I know I’ve seen them before. Didn’t some of the enemies (Vampire Lord) use them?
I also have the feeling I’ve hired demons before.. Or could that be in L2?

On a side note; where did all those cool images in the manual come from? I recognize a few from the intro and ending movies from DL, but not all of them.

46. ugetab Says:

In Secret Scenario 1 (Base 71), let the Aniki count down to 0.

You’ll get a message from Hein: “Liana, you’re came up with that answer pretty fast.”

Also, the ‘with with’ scenarios are (Base 19,23,35) that I know of. I haven’t started any scenarios past (Base 36), except the secret ones yet.

47. Jesse Says:

Jereplofje:
The images are probably from the remakes of DL (either DL-FX or LII Saturn or LII PSX or LII PC). As D had the
graphics from LII PC available, there is a certain possibility, that they are from that version.

48. Jereplofje Says:

Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. Is there anyplace I can get/download the videos from those remakes? So far I only found this: http://the.animearchive.org/langllisser/
And the videos that were present in the PC version of Der Langrisser.

49. Derrick Says:

Jereplofje: Demons exist in the game, but there is no class promotion for ANY commander which says you can get them (unlike Elementals, which it says you should get, but you don’t).

The images come from all over. Some are from Der Langrisser FX. No, you cannot get the videos anywhere, because the PC-FX has no movie files. They animate directly out of the CD-ROM like Hu-Video (PC-Engine and PC-FX CD-ROMs are like 700MB ROM files–no filesystem). For someone to make videos, they would need a PC-FX and video capture. Basically, you are SOL.

50. monoman Says:

In imperial path scenario 14 ( fighting Aaron ) a generic commander unit in the south part of the maps says ” … able to see to see a mass… ” when he is killed

http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/1504/image001ez3.png

save after setting up for scenario 15
http://rapidshare.com/files/38609765/Copy__2__of_dl_e.srm

hopefully you can get the save state.

51. byuu Says:

Thank you for being the first to post a save RAM file. Now if only one of them were for Scenario 15 (as opposed to the two files you posted that are both for Scenario 14) … I do not know which number to scenario skip to, to look at the terrain issue myself.

EDIT: found a guide for it. It’s #44. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the bug. It could be due to SRAM corruption, or another glitch in the game … but there’s little I can do if I can’t see the bug myself.

52. monoman Says:

Hmm i zerged my way though scenario 14 to see if i could get a proper save ram with the bug… but it failed to occur. The only other thing i can think that may have caused this is i had just made Leon a Dragon Lord and i may have been scouting the battlefield by placing him.

On the plus side this is really minor considering it only happened during placement before i sortied my troops, when the first turn started all the terrain bonus values showed up correctly.

Feel free to mock me in your spare time for making Leon a Dragon Lord, for some reason i thought griffins had better stats.

BTW the save ram i posted before does start out right by the commander with a typo, to bad i wasn’t the right one for the bug.

53. KAllen13 Says:

Hello.
On scenario 64 (Independent 20), where you have to set the symbols or whatever, the scenario doesn’t end when all three symbols are set. It triggers conversation and the party warps out, but after Cherie says, “But…Ahh…Nothing…can be done…” the scenario goes on as if it hadn’t ended.

I’m not really sure what it is that’s causing it, so I made two saves: One save before any of the characters step on the symbols, and one before hein teleports onto the last symbol.
Rars containing dl_e.srm with resume at the points mentioned:

http://rapidshare.com/files/38824970/dl_es64onemoresymbol.rar

If it helps, I tried with bsnes, snes9x, and zsnes and the same problem occurred. Thank you for taking bug reports.

54. KAllen13 Says:

Sorry for double posting, but I made a mistake. It’s scenario 69, not 64. Sorry again.

55. Derrick Says:

KAllen13: I will inform MK he is no longer the only person in history to trigger a bug where a scenario can never actually end.

Amusingly, you hit the same bug as he did. We have no idea how to fix it. Sorry, your game is borked. Restart the scenario and don’t do whatever it is you did this time :(

This bug exists in the Japanese game.

Kind of makes you wonder what exactly the programmers “fixed” between Der Langrisser 1.0 and 1.1.

56. Guillaume777 Says:

Sorry Byuu, the right SRM file for the elemental bug is at http://rapidshare.com/files/39390881/dl_e.srm.html

Like I said, first game is right before end of scenario and class change. Second game is on recruit screen as Stone Golem, unable to recruit elementals.

Thanks !

Guillaume

57. Sephirstein Says:

I killed Zilmu but not Laird, and I made Sonya retreat in S7, but not before she summoned those undead beasties…Hein killed the undead guys, while Rouga and Elwin dealt with the enemies…So here’s the bug: I finish the scenario and choose imperial…My allies get pissed off and theb Leon joins me and gains a bunch of levels…The game suddenly jumps to the Light script for the scenario’s ending, but I go to Imperial 8, only Leon is a Lv. 9 Knight (as though he had gained no levels when he joined me) rather than a Highlander or whatever the Hell I had ended up making him.

58. Derrick Says:

We had this turn up in beta. We have no clue what’s goring wrong with it.Sorry. This one happens in the Japanese game too.

59. Guillaume777 Says:

Hello Byuu,

In the change class window, it says that elementals should be recruitable for the classes “Living Armour”, “Stone Golem” and “Jormungandr”. However, they are not.

Elementals however appear on your side in scenario 56 (Sonya comes with them).

I know you are very buzy, but it would be cool to either make elementals recruitable, or remove them from the “Class change window”… It might be worth it for you to take a quick look at it.

Here is a SRM file : http://rapidshare.com/files/39390881/dl_e.srm.html
First save is right before Osto kills Vargas, levels up to Stone Golem and ends the scenario.
Second save is in next scenario, with Osto as Stone Golem yet unables to recruit elementals.

Have a good day Byuu and thanks again for your really terrific work on the Der Langrisser translation !

Guillaume

any idea if the secret tile bonuses work… permanently? (mainly the + magic resistance/ +mp / +troop number)

Just a minor thing.

Manual states that you get a +1A/+D bonus for every X number of units remaning in battle (X in game is actually 16). However, in game bonus is only +1A for every 16 units alive, so either the manual is wrong or its a minor bug in the game.

I am on the secret gay level and in the start of 9th turn they start count from 1 so ,is it now from 1 to 3 till blow up or it is bug ?

63. Rune o Mago Says:

I found this bug in scenario 20 independent (it’s scenario 69 I think). In this scenario, the winning condition is either kill all the enemies or activate the ruins. Also you have a time limit of 20 turns to complete the scenario.

In order to activate the ruins you need to place your commanders in 3 control panel things in the north of the map. Two of them are guarded by generic enemy commanders and the one in the middle is guarded by Sherry.

So I killed the two generic enemies and placed 2 characters in the control panels. Since I was feeling benevolent and didn’t want to kill Sherry (I had also spared Lester), I had Hein teleport to the control panel behind her, since you’re supposed to be able to finish the scenario this way.

After that there is some dialogue and all my characters are teleported to heaven to fight Lushris, as if I had cleared the map. However, instead of getting the “scenario clear” or something message, the game continues eventhou your units are not there anymore. You can’t do anything except pass your turn and save your game (but you don’t wanna do that :P ). If you end your turn the enemies left alive will just stay there looking stupid, and surprisingly enough even if you pass over 20 turns nothing happens (except for an enemy message in turn 19 where they say they’re almost sealing the ruins.

If you kill SHerry you can complete the scenario normally, the bug only happens if you dont kill her.

64. pakopako Says:

I also posted this at the GameFAQs Der Langrisser board:
Scenario 40, the third available Runestone is mis-translated. It is also not a Runestone. (I have two in my inventory, counting the one from the Sweat Shrine)

“A single beautiful flower
floats on a plank in the waves.
What will you do with it?

1-Leave it behind: The plank was swallowed by the waves
2-Try to pluck it: You left the flower behind…
3-Remove the plank: Inside the flower, a sprite appears // The flower sprite becomes a smile // and disappears into the flower. // AT raised by 3 pts!”
(it does raise AT by +3; it is not a Runestone)

By the way, the 2nd Runestone (in S.6) isn’t there (after getting the S.5 Runestone). I haven’t gone far enough in the game to earn teleport, so I can’t tell if you have to reach the Rod before Eggbert does to get the 2nd Runestone.

65. Derrick Says:

pakopako: I’ll ask again: what exactly is this mis-translation? The text you posted is what the game says, and you have confirmed it is supposed to give you AT+3 just like it says.

You mean a FAQ told you this should be a Rune Stone, and it’s not; thus you think we created a bug?

I will say it again: we never touched map data. We never changed what a tile gives you. If you got directions in a FAQ, and they turn out not to work, then it is because whoever wrote the FAQ was fucking wrong.

66. pakopako Says:

I answered on the Gamefaqs boards.
I’m not sure if it is an accurate translation, which would indicate the original text as being jumbled. The tile is still there; it still gives you something; it’s the answers to the choices that seem mismatched.

-The first choice says to leave it behind, but the answer relates to the plank sinking.
-The second choice says to pluck the flower, but the answer relates to leaving the flower alone.
-The third choice is probably for the runestone (if the runestones in scenario 6 or 9/43 were not found) as the answer relates to the flower and not the plank.
Again, because I picked up an earlier runestone, the original game may have had this configuration of answers and thus is an original game glitch and not a translation error.

67. Kaz Says:

Not sure if this was posted, but its not the secret tile that’s in dispute, it’s the answer after you select after finding it.
When you select the 2nd choice (pluck the flower) in Scenario 40, the answer says you leave it alone.
I haven’t missed the first two Runestone attempts, so I can’t say if picking one of them up affects this specific secret tile; and I haven’t played the original Japanese game to say if this is how the original game handled it; what’s said was the three answers don’t always/totally relate to the three questions asked, it may/may not be a mis-associated translation or an inherent game bug, and a Runestone was found in an earlier scenario if that affects things.

the following has nothing to do with mistranslations and what not

one of them chinese site has a very detailed list of where things are.. and mentions things like the above situation… if you get the one earlier, you won’t get the latter one.. (and vice versa)

“dismisses” should just be “dismiss”.

70. Baajikiil Says:

There is a typo in the aftermath of scenario 1:

Erwin says, “I can’t help think that something terrible has begun…”

Looks like “think” should be “thinking”.
http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/7150/image000kc8.png

Also, in scenario 20(69) of the independent path:

Pre-battle, Lester says, “His obsession with forbidden left a mark or two on that asshole’s body, wouldn’t ya say?”

There should be a “the” in front of forbidden.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/7170/image001ss0.png

71. Derrick Says:

Baajikiil: No. The scenario 1 one is just fine. It’s “I can’t help but think …” with “but” omitted. This is a safe omission in oral style.

72. Kaz Says:

I’ll agree with forbidden, but “I can’t help think” works for me; even though I feel it could be “I can’t help, BUT think”.

“Neutralise”
and “mobilise”
(both on the Imperial path) seem funny to me, but I’m not sure if that’s just Queen’s English.

No. The scenario 1 one is just fine. It’s “I can’t help but think …” with “but” omitted. This is a safe omission in oral style.

Okay, I just hadn’t seen it written that way before.

I’m having problems with the download. I’ve downloaded basically every link and every time it says its a corrupted zip file and i cant open it. plz helpppppp

75. pakopako Says:

Just because I’m a nice guy: Jon, If you are on dial-up, a hiccup probably happened, cutting off your download.

Get a new free web-browser. Opera, Firefox (Windows, Linux) or Safari (PC). They have built-in download managers that will “keep your spot” when downloading. In case you get kicked offline or some-such, when you get back online you can resume the download where you left off. Not all websites will support this feature. Not sure if Internet Explorer 7 supports it, but I doubt it.

76. Senka Says:

At Scenario 20 of Light Path, when you attack the Archmage’s group on the left, he (she?) says,
“You think you our elite squad will go down that easily?”

The second you should be removed since it’s clearly just an accidentily repeated word.

77. Senka Says:

er, forgot to clarify that he says it after you finish attacking one of the units of his group, not before.

78. Wisp Says:

Chaos 19 (Scenario 63, supposedly.)

There’s a Commander - General who spawns after you attack the initial cavalry troops. Upon the death of this commander, he says

“I, I’ve been slain…”

to which Laird replies

“No need to fear.
I will, definitely!”

Laird’s reply does not make sense in the context. I’m reporting it in case it is one of those things the translation crew can fix.

I do have a SRM file for this bug, in case it’d be desirable.

79. Luiz Says:

I’ve downloaded Langrisser Hikari II translated to Englsih.I can’t play the rom using gens emulator.Though it’s playable using Fusion 3.51 emulator,I just cannot save the scenarios. Is there any way to solve this bug,or any emulator in which these problema do not happens?

Thank You.

80. nlima Says:

Luiz, it’s probably an issue with an older version of the game.

There is that older version of the HH patch in which I also had such a problem, but after the fixes it worked for me.

81. Daniel Says:

Ok, obviously the patcher works because so many people are playing it. Unfortunately, i must be missing something because i’ve downloaded the ups patcher, the patch itself, and the approved rom and emulator, and still cant figure out how to get the English version to work.

Can someone please make/write an idiots guide on how to make this thing work? And email me when its available? Please?!
